Falcon LLM Hosts Thrilling Developer Competitions

The makers of the Falcon LLM, which recently released Falcon 2, an AI model series that famously surpassed Meta’s Llama-3, are hosting multiple hackathons in the tournament. Here are some exciting ones that developers must look out for.

4X Falcon's Throughput:

Make Falcon Even Faster

The hackathon’s goal is to amplify the throughput of Falcon 2 11B by a staggering 4x. Participants could test different methods, such as quantisation, to increase the throughput, all while maintaining a minimum accuracy of 95% of the original model's accuracy on benchmarks –

  • ARC-C: 59.73
  • MMLU: 58.37
  • WinoGrande: 78.30
  • HellaSwag:82.91
  • TruthfulQA: 52.56
  • GSM8K: 53.83
Longer Context:

Best Falcon with 64k Context Window

In this hackathon, participants are tasked with creating a version of the Falcon 2 11B model with a 64K context window while retaining accuracy and preventing hallucinations. This hackathon challenges them to optimise the model's accuracy metrics on Haystack and Pass-key retrieval benchmarks, striking the perfect balance between context length and performance.

Promising Step
for Research

In line with its vision to drive knowledge sharing, advance open source AI development, and democratise access to AI, the Falcon Foundation will share the solutions and outcomes within the research community for citations and discussions.

In addition to the $10,000 prize money, the winning teams will also stand a chance to collaborate with world-leading researchers at the forefront of AI research.

All submissions will be accepted as documentation or a link to the published article detailing the approach, program, tools used, and outcomes for the problem statement.

The True
Open-Source

Based in the UAE, TII is the applied research pillar of operates under the Abu Dhabi government's Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), and is at the forefront of generative AI development. Its research extends further, however, into areas like quantum research, robotics, cryptography, digital science, directed energy, and secure systems.

TII is also one of the few companies that continues to build open-source powerful LLMs for the developer community to foster growth and innovation.

Hakim Hacid, the executive director and acting chief researcher at TII, said in an earlier exclusive interaction with AIM , "You need a lot of funding to sustain open source, and we believe not everyone will be able to do it."
